Upick & Mazes

Our Upick Strawberry, Vegetable & Flower Gardens are open during the summer for families to enjoy along side our legendary collection of Mazes.  The most Unique maze is Alberta’s only Sunflower Maze Grown from 100,000 Sunflowers.  Visitors can also challenge our Corn Maze and growing collection of Tree & Patio Mazes.  All our vegetables, berries, flowers & mazes are grown without the use of any synthetic fertilizers or herbicides & our farm is in transition to organic production.

Farmers Markets

Can’t Make it to the Farm? No worries, there is a good chance you can find our produce at a Farmers Market near you, both during many fantastic summer markets, but also at a collection of great year round markets.  We attend markets ourselves in Calgary and work with others to distribute our produce in Red Deer, Lacombe, Camrose & Canmore.

Primarily at markets you will find our root veggies & brassicas such as broccoli, caluiflower, cabbage & kohlrabi, while our partners grow the lettuce, zucchini,

Community Supported Agriculture

Looking for a way to support local farms? Our Community Supported Agriculture Program may be a great fit for you.  CSA’s are a great way to support local farms and eat seasonably, by investing in a seasons crop sharing the production risks and rewards with a local farmer.

With our CSA Program we deliver veggies & fruit into Calgary for 15 weeks during the summer during our peak growing season. Then our winter CSA is a biweekly delivery from November to February.

Upick & Maze Update:

Our Farm Store and Upick is now open 7 days a week 11am-5pm  Our farm store closes at 5:00 and we recommend coming before 3:00 to have enough time to enjoy the farm.  The mazes are between 4-6 feet tall at the moment.  On Wednesday August 15th the sunflower maze was at about 70% Bloom in our first 2 acre planting.  Full Bloom will be later this week and the second 1.5 acre planting’s bloom should last into early September.  Thursdays and Fridays in August we will be open extended hours for those wishing to take pictures in the sunflowers during sunset.

There is a good selection of carrots, beets, peas, onions and baby potatoes in the upick along with small selection of flowers. Strawberries were set back by hail 2 weeks ago and we hope they will be ready later in August.  Our upick flowers were also hit pretty hard by the hail and we will only have a limited supply this summer.

Open Farm Days!

August 18th & 19th is Open Farm Days which showcases a mix of farm such as ourselves who are regularly open to the public along with many farm only open for tours on this weekend.  Check out the Open Farm Days Website for a full list of farms and events.

Eagle Creek Farms is a Family Farm Located in Central Alberta

The Mills Family moved to the farm in Bowden, Alberta back in 1921 and have continued on the tradition of farming for 4 generations.   Today’s farm is much different than in the early part of the century, however farm still revolves around the family. Recently John has started raising a family while farming with his father Stan.

We are proud to grow all our veggies, flowers, berries & mazes without the use of synthetic herbicides or fertilizers

2008 was the year we started transitioning the farm to organic production and hope to have Organic Certification this year! We have had some successes and failures over the years, and are happy to share our journey with you, either for your interest if you purchase food from us, or if your starting on your own path into Organic Farming.
